Research Scientists specializing in conservation grazing, genetics and animal behaviour from Chester and Aberystwyth Universities explain why Dartmoor Hill Ponies are central to the biodiversity and landscape, traditions and culture, as well as tourism of Dartmoor.

A further project analysing the genetics of the semi-wild Dartmoor Hill Pony began Autumn 2020.
